Fund For South Asian Flood Victims
12 August, Montreal- National
Bangladeshi-Canadian Council (NBCC) Members and South Asian community's respond
to the Floods in Bangladesh, India, and Nepal has affected over 30 million
people. There have been disease outbreaks as people suffer from food shortages
and survive amid stagnant waters. Large areas of land remain under water.
In Bangladesh the current floods are compounding the damage over billion dollar
leftover millions of people homeless.

12 august At 419 Saint Roch complex NBCC organizations are quickly responding to
this crisis through a variety of ways.
NBCC is working with Unicef as partners on the ground in Bangladesh to bring
vital aid to flood-affected children's and woman's in particular.“Aid via unicef
is often the fastest and most effective method of help,” said Monir Hossain
president of NBCC. “Unicef teams on the ground are already in place and have the
infrastructure to assist brothers and sisters in need.”
Specially in children's. NBCC also appealing for funds to enable a long-term response, including the
repair of homes and local economies such as agriculture and fishing.
Fund
Raising event ending with total collection of 4,000 dollars include
Borough Villeray St-Michel Parc Extension Mayor 500 dollars.

It's the biggest Canada Day party in multicultural
Canadian communities at Parc-Extension Montreal. Thousands of people attended
with their children's dressed in red and white with traditional costume crowded
onto the lawns in Jean Talon parc front of Loblaws super market on top of metro
Parc Sunday July 1st to celebrate Canada's 140th birthday. Canada
flags fluttered in the wind while children's lead by Elma Khandokar playing on
live Canada national anthem.
For the 5th time hosted by National Bangladeshi-Canadian Council (NBCC) Canada
Day celebrations at the Gare Jean Talon Parc began around 12 p.m. till 9 p.m.
There was live music with free hot dog barbeque even Indian samucha and sweet
generously offerd by India Canada Organization, South Asian Seniors Association
and Bharat Bhaban,
For many youngsters art and Canada quiz competition was the major attraction.
For woman ring toss and under 6 kid's race draw many attractions.

Once again Parc-Exer celebrate their annual
winter festival. National Bangladeshi-Canadian Council(NBCC) partnering with
City of Montreal, Bourough Mayor Anie Samson and Loisirs du Parc and local
communities and organizations organize 3rd annual Parc-Ex Intercultural
Festival-2008. Parc-Extension citizens widely participated these festivities to
embrace each other with their young and love one. Its also include famous South
Asian traditional foods and pie at the corner display. Guest didn't west their
time they overwhelm taken test of their origin food. More than 500 guests show
up at the event on Saturday, 29th November at 419 St-Roch community center for
the traditional mix of music, verities of colorful pies, food, history and
culture that make up the festival. hailed as one of the biggest and most
exciting cross cultural parties.
The guests relish themselves with the South Asian ( Bangladesh-India-Pakistan)
delicacy of pies like Bapa, Pati Shapta, Ful, Bibikhana, Pakon, Mug Pakon,
Jilmili, Puli etc. and sweets.
The guests enjoyed different pithas and sweets from different culture.
Traditional cultural performance dance, song, poem include enchanted the guests.
Special attraction of the evening was a best pie maker "Award".
Chief guest MNA Gerry Sklavounos on his speeches thanks to NBCC and all
supporting organization for organizing a great event for the Parc-Exer and their
youths. said 'I am so happy to see that lots of young and children's are shown
today. It is a positive for the community to involve their children to the
couture of their circle.
Festival coordinator Monir Hossain and president of the National
Bangladeshi-Canadian Council thanks to all sponsored, participators,
contributors and guests with announcing Parc-Ex Festival will be continue in
Parc-Ex every year in the month of October-November. Also thanks to Marcel

The first of this month will have been quite busy one in
Parc Extension, with Canada Day Celebration venues.
The National Bangladeshi-Canadian Council (NBCC) host 141st Canada
Day Celebration on July 1st with a free barbecue at the Jean Talon
(Old train station) (front of Loblaw's) for district residents.
Hundreds came, big and small, and lined up to enjoy a halal
hot dog or a som osa
wile others took part in the various activities for children and adult. But the
main attraction was undoubtedly the huge red-and white cake (the color of the
national flag) which was cut up by city councilor Mary Deros and Celebration
Coordinator Monir Hossain and served to the crowd in mid-afternoon. Joined by
local MNA Gerry Sklanvonus, future liberal candidate Justin Trudeau and Borough
mayor Anny Samson.

Bangladeshi-Canadian in Montreal Celebrate Country's
37th year of Independence Day

The celebration of the 37th of Bangladesh
Independence Day was hosted by the National-Bangladeshi Canadian Council (NBCC)
of Montreal at 419 St-Roch auditorium Parc-Extension. It was a well-packaged
event that was graced by the Bangladeshi-Canadian communities and their young's
The occasion started off with the introduction of the M.C., Celebration started
with onscreen multimedia played Bangladesh and Canada national anthem.
NBCC president Monir Hossain welcomed the guests with little history about the
NBCC: It is an organization that was started in 2003, " in order to promote
unity, and foster mutual understanding among all Bangladeshi-Canadian who
immigrate to Canada and about to build won generation. He also mentioned some of
the events that have been successfully organized by the member of administration
as well our honorable Bangladeshi-Canadian communities in here. He concluded by
encouraging all Bangladeshis to be god representatives of their beloved country.
A very interesting highlight of the event was the cultural dance with new
generation children's presentation by Kolamandhir Dance School lead by Lopa
Mudrha Bashu also dances performance by Lopa Mudrha and Mahazabin Khan Mithi.
Based on Bangladesh Muktijudho special documentary was
presented . Mini tale of story about our great liberation war presented by
honorable (Veer Vikram-Vir Uttam) (rtd. Cap.) Aftab.
Later on Bangladeshi patriotic song performance by Nancy, Elma, Momo, Zashia, Rupom
and Candy and special song performance by Shafiul Islam and guitarist Rocket and
his group Shanad and Antu. Tabla played by talented player Shafiul Islam, Suhag,
and Kaffi.
The night finally ended with test of home made delicious
Bangladeshis Pitha and verities of foods.
Very big thanks to Loisirs du Parc, Mr. Motalib Khondaker,
Dilip Chowdhury, Zia Hossain, Shishir, Shafiul Islam, Rocket ,Omar. Dewan
Moniruzzaman and Shamshad Ara Rana.

INTERCULTURAL FESTIVAL-2007

Indigenous to classical, traditional, folk,
electronic and tribal, the Parc-Ex Intercultural Festival 2007 showed
kaleidoscopic programme of Live Entertainment, fairs & food markets, display,
dance, poem and so much more. A gigantic global feast of arts and culture!
National Bangladeshi-Canadian Council (NBCC) is a
non-profit organization that aims to create a dynamic and sustainable community.
NBCC takes a lead role in expanding partnership with three levels of government,
communities, and corporations to improve the physical environment of Montreal as
well Parc-Extension, to implement youth and cultural programs to promote Parc-Extension
to develop initiatives to revitalize the unity of Montreal ethnic community.
