সুপ্রিয় ২০২১ সালের এইচএসসি পরীক্ষার্থী বন্ধুরা, শুভেচ্ছা নিয়ো। আজ তোমাদের ইংরেজি দ্বিতীয় পত্রের প্রশ্ন নম্বর-১৬ থেকে আরো ১টি Composition Writing নিয়ে আলোচনা করব। তোমরা অবশ্যই সঠিক বানানে ও টু দ্য পয়েন্টে Composition লিখবে। তাহলে Composition-এ তোমরা বেশি নম্বর পাবে।

Role of Women in our Society

Women constitute almost half of the total population of a country. They are not just the show pieces of a house. They are the partners to men in work. They can play significant role in nation-building. Nobody can deny the fact that women can contribute to family income and render national duties. Their role is vital in all sectors of the country. The country which could ensure the participation of women in development activities has become developed.

The status of the rural women in Bangladesh is low. In our society women do not get respect and concern. The rural women have to perform numerous tasks everyday. Cooking foods, washing clothes, entertaining guests, looking after children, maintaining household are the routine works of a village woman. Everyday they have to perform their daily works. From dawn to night they have to work relentlessly for survival and for their family. Within the poor households women are more deprived. Women’s participation in developing activities is not encouraged. They can't play any vital role in decision-making. Half of our population is women. But we have failed to engage our women in development work.

Women have equal capabilities to perform their duties like men. It is not possible to achieve development keeping this huge amount of population in the darkness. At present women are playing important roles in different sectors. In the past women were confined to household chores. But now they are coming out of the walls of their houses. Now they are joining work force and earning money. By receiving higher education, they are joining a wide range of professions. They are becoming teachers, pilots, doctors, engineers etc. They have been able to prove their worth. This brings for them economic freedom and individual identity. Thus, earning money they are also contributing to family income as well as to national economy. Garments factory is one of the potential sectors of Bangladesh where women are the main work force. Women are working efficiently in some other sectors. Health services, Banking, Police, Armed forces etc are some of them. Some women are joining the work force to earn money and some are joining to earn individual identity.  Bangladesh is an agricultural country and her economy depends on it. About 20 million women in our country are working in agriculture sector. But it is really unfortunate that women’s roles in agricultural societies are not recognized in our country.

The development of the condition of women means the development of a country. For ensuring the development of women folk, education for women is must. All the girls of the country should be educated. They should also be given different vocational training. The Bangladesh Government has already made girls’ education upto secondary level free. Government has reserved 15% posts of job for women. Government has a special ministry on Women Affairs and Programs to promote the empowerment of women. Different NGOs are also working for upgrading the condition of women.

For the utilization of this women force, they should be educated and trained. A country can develop with the full participation of women. So, the importance of women in development works needs no telling. Without considering women’s participation and their well being, it will be very difficult to develop the country. So it is necessary to respect and evaluate women for building a rich and prosperous nation.
