সুপ্রিয় ২০২১ সালের এইচএসসি পরীক্ষার্থী বন্ধুরা, শুভেচ্ছা নিয়ো। আজ তোমাদের ইংরেজি দ্বিতীয় পত্রের প্রশ্ন নম্বর-১৬ থেকে আরো ১টি Composition Writing নিয়ে আলোচনা করব। পরীক্ষায় Composition লেখার সময় তোমরা প্রাসঙ্গিক কথায় লিখবে। অপ্রাসঙ্গিক কথা লিখে উত্তর অযথা বড় করবে না।

Unemployment Problem in Bangladesh/Self-Employment

Employment means an occupation which helps a man to earn his own livelihood. On the other hand, unemployment means the state of being without any opportunity of earning one’s livelihood. Bangladesh is a small poor country but it has a huge population. Unemployment problem is one of the greatest problems of Bangladesh. At present, a large number of educated people in our country are unemployed. In other words, there are fewer jobs than the necessity. Unemployment problem creates many other problems. Only self-employment can solve this problem. 

There are many causes for unemployment problem. These are: 1) Over-population, 2) Illiteracy 3) Invention of machineries 4) Lack of skill 5) Lack of training 6) False sense of dignity 7) Social Prejudice 8) Lack of capital 9) Political unrest 10) Natural disasters.

The total population of Bangladesh is about 150 million. It is not possible for any government to provide employment to all the people of this country. Besides, many people of our country are illiterate. As they have no light of education, they can not manage any job for them. Many people who live in villages have prejudice that girls do not need education and they should not go out side their houses for work. As a result a good number of women of our country are unemployed. Without the participation of these women, no progress of the country is possible.   

Earlier, most of the people of our country were employed in agriculture and small industry but during the reign of the English colonialists the backbones of these industries broke down. With the advent of machines in small industry sectors, job opportunities decreased dramatically. Nowadays   most of the machinery has been made automated, which are serving as substitutes for thousands of people. This has created unemployment problem on a great scale. Industrialization has not developed largely in our country so employment opportunities have not increased. Besides, very few people of our country are skilled and equipped with the necessary knowledge and techniques.

The impact of unemployment problem on the economy of our country is great. An unemployed man is a burden on his family. He leads an idle life and we know that an idle brain is the devil’s workshop. Rather he suffers from frustration that leads him to commit many crimes. Unemployment problem gives birth to many social crimes. It also destroys the moral values of a man.

It is not possible only for the government to remove unemployment problem from the country overnight. People of all sections of the society should come forward to uproot this problem. The rich people should set up new mills and factories. The government should take plans to attract foreign investment to the country so that employment opportunities should be created. All the children of our country should be educated. The youths should be provided with training so that they can make themselves free from this curse by self-employment. There are many opportunities for self-employment such as poultry farming, gardening, flower cultivation, driving etc. At the same time the government should export manpower to the different countries of the world. 

Day by day the unemployment problem is becoming acute. If the problem goes beyond our control it may cause a disaster. The government should be more careful to solve this problem. We should start a social campaign to remove the causes of unemployment. For the greater benefit of the country, unemployment problem should be removed from the country at any cost.
